ok, its the graphic cards that seems to make the biggest diff in price here... what im asking is what is the best value for money?.. i know that obviously the more expensive i go the more power i will have... but what offers the best value for money?.
out of the cards is the dual 7800s that much better than the dual 6800s to justify that much more money?. the same also for the 4400 cpu to the fx-55.
cheers guys, this is starting to hurt ma head . like i say.. i dont want to make a mistake as this will be the last PC i buy for a while.
anyones experience of this sort of thing will be appreciated...

yes this will only be a gaming PC..
my prob is if the jump from the dual 6800s to the 7800s and also the 4400+ to the fx-55 is really worth the massive price increase.. i think its in the region of ú600.

iv had all my last Pcs built by a friend... its always given me trouble:(.. this time im looking for a ready built PC with a guarantee... i know what ur saying bout the costs though....
im thinking maybe the 4400+ cpu with the dual 7800 cards... the 3d mark seems to be around 23000, which iv been told is good.
anyone have any experience of these cards?.

Edited by: darth solo on 04/07/2005 10:42:21 ok cheers guys... after ALOT of research iv decided to go with this.
ú2343.35 AMD athlon 64x 2 4400+ dual 7800 gtx pcx 256mb nvidia cards 2gb dual ddr pc3200 4x 512 memory on a alien mother board ..
i read a 20 page review and test on the 7800 card last nite, and it was pretty amazing... so 2 of them must be nice... i think it will be worth the extra cost.
as for the fx 55 CPU, well think im gonna give that a miss and go for the 4400+.
cheers... ill tell u all how it performs soon .
oh i get the VAT back so i save ú320 on it.

cheers..
well i got sucked in like a kid in a sweety store and went for the fx 55 processor also.
seemingly windows will be moving to that sort of tec soon...
as for the SLIs... its a pretty amazing idea.. i didnt even know of the 2 cards together untill about a month ago... but when i did i couldnt help myself.
i know u never buy stuff that just comes out, but it had me drooling and i dont go buying Pcs everyday.
crazy isnt it...

yeah xrak, i like the idea that Alien will be building and setting up my machine with the 2 cards for me, rite from the start... so they should work good as iv heard nothing but good things about them....
iv seen some pics of a single 7800 in a 4000+ machine... and it looks AMAZING.. so ill see what i can do ...

Yes, you went of course for the outdated single core fx55.
My condolences.
i dont understand what u mean?... 2 weeks ago i didnt have half a clue, but with the help of many ppl and alot of research, im getting a bit of knowledge.
the FX-57 processor has only JUST been released, its the most powerfull gaming CPU money can buy... no way will i pay for that its insane money... and thats the only CPU that betters the FX-55, and even that is by a very little...
64 FX57 110.6% 64 FX55 105.06% X2 4800+ 101.2 64 4000+ 100.0%
the FX-55 is the second best CPU money can buy... and if i did want the FX-57 id need to purchase it from the USA, also the 4800 is more expensive than the fx-55 but with less power, the FXs are meant to be the future... so why condolences? and a stupid rolling eyes thing?.
darn im actually getting rite into this PC lark.... .

seems they offer the best after sales service.. they also win lots of awards from all the top gaming and PC mags... i know i could get the same tec of PC for less if i bought all the components and got some1 to build it.. but i like the idea of having a guarantee and peace of mind. can u imagine frying ur 2 7800 cards cause another part of ur PC went faulty ...
Its also going thriough a business account, so is alot easier to explain when i have 1 receipt, rather than 10 from diff PC part suppliers .
anyways, too late now.. its ordered. darth runs to bank and cancels cheque.
